Argentinian artist Leandro Erlich built his new installation called Order of Importance on Miami Beach, just in time for Miami Art Week 2019. The installation, commissioned by the City of Miami Beach, mimics a life-sized traffic jam and it is also Miami Beach’s first-ever temporary public art project.

The cars and trucks that count 66 in total are stuck in time, lined up in an imaginary standstill, as they juxtapose against the sand the artist chose as the medium—a slow disintegrating and porous material is used to express the passage of time, an unstable material against the harsh and rigid modernity—the jam appears to be going nowhere, and the building material is not at all lasting—it is left to degrade over the course of the 15-day exhibition. Take a look at Order of Importance down below.
