“Scandinavians do it better”, and by listening to Norwegian singer/musician Jimi Somewhere, you can only agree. Can’t remember when we first heard of him, but we wanted to know more and introduce him to you.

Where are you right now ?

Right now im at my parents house working on music with my producer Milo. Being in my childhood always feels peaceful.

What is your current state of mind?

I just feel very excited these days. Theres all these new opportunities coming now and i just released a new song so theres a lot going on. Which is good.

How did you get started in music?

Ive kind of always written songs ever since i was a kid, but i met my producer Milo in eight grade and started really working. Then we released my debut single “Escape” in 2016 and stuff started for real.

What musicians inspired you when you were growing up?

My dad was listening to a lot of Elton John, Pink Floyd & 80s stuff like that while i was growing up so thats my earliest memories of enjoying music. Then my sisters put me on to like Coldplay & Green Day and stuff when i was 6-7 so i got big into that. Eventually i found Eminem which became the first artist i really started ‘stanning’ (no pun intended). Overall i listened to all kinds of stuff though in every genre. Always loved anything with passion and emotion.

Where do you find inspiration for music ?

My life inspires most of it. Im very inspired by movies too. And weather. And just how things feel.

Could you tell us more about your writing process ?

I write songs pretty fast. I kind of just pour out whatever im going through at the moment. Milo will bring me a beat or like an idea and ill just sit down with it and start pouring out.

You just released a new single called, could you tell us more about this new release ?

Its a song called “Never Cared” which i made with a good friend of mine called Boy Pablo. Me & Pablo started releasing songs around the same time and the scene in norway is pretty small so we quickly met at a festival we were both playing at and became friends. Then he went super viral and became a pop star. Which was amazing to watch and the way he handles all of it and stays so down to earth is very admirable.

Anyways, last year we were both invited to stay a weekend at his manager Fabios house. We had been talking about making something together for a long time and this was the perfect opportunity. Made the song and video that weekend. Everything kind of just fell together very organic which was sick.

What was the most memorable moment of your career thus far?

Probably joining Boy Pablo on their UK tour. We played “1st Place’ who was unreleased at the time in front of a crowd who had never heard of me before and people learned the hook as i was performing it and screamed it back at me. It was incredible to experience.

what musicians are you listening to at the moment?

I think the new Clairo are really good. Been listening to Denzel Curry new project a lot. Nada Surfs “Let Go”. Also a lot of Rosalia. And Jean Dawson who is super underrated.

Your music in three words ?

Summer. Emotional. Nostalgic

If you were not a musician ?

If i were not a musician i would probably work in film or graphic design. Directing commercials would be sick. Something creative for sure though.

What’s your favorite occupation ?

Being an artist. It has been my job for like a year now and its the best shit. I make money of my emotions. Wild.

What scares you the most ?

Death. Shit is scary.

One movie, one book, one song ?

Movie: Her by Spike Jonze
Book: The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.
Song: Blonde on Blonde by Nada Surf.

I feel like all these share a type of emotion that im really drawn towards.

On an typical Saturday night, where can we find you ?

Most likely in my Oslo appartment watching movies with my flatmates or making music.

Best advice you’ve been given?

I think to just trust my own taste. I always send my demos around to get opinions but ultimately if i want to be happy and satisfied with my work, my taste is always the best for my art.

What’s next for you ?
Just a lot more music and exciting stuff. Hopefully some touring. Gonna keep building and perfecting what im doing.

A question we forgot to ask ?

I think you got it all! Thanks for having me. Somewhere x Somewhere, it had to happen.
