Under the name, The Sun Always Rises in the East, French artist Vincent Leroy reinterpreted the sun in his new monumental sculpture placed in front of the new Kumming mall in China. The pixelated version of the star blurs the light it attracts using transparent glass panels. Slowly rotating, it changes its appearance depending on the amount of sunlight it reflects.

Vincent Leroy: “It is a sun of a new kind, totally reinterpreted — a pixelated sun seems to come straight from an ‘old school video game’ like a down resolution picture. This installation attracts visitors with its reflection not only in the relationship with speed and distance but with reality – essential in today’s world, a search for the natural rhythm of its own internal harmony.”
