Located on a volcanic island in South Korea, this café named “Platform_monsant” was designed architectural studio “platform_a”.

Its simple boxly structure integrates the minimalist landscapes of the island of Jeju. To further integrate the volume into the surrounding landscape, the architects installed a crushed concrete wall, reflecting glass doors and volcanic stone elements for the interior. In a statement about the project, the architects say: “Our goal was not to emphasize the architecture by landscape, but to highlight the landscape by architecture.”
