Following the release of his four-track LP, Before, James Blake is back again for another emotionally fuelled cover, this time of Roberta Flack’s “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.”

The track was originally written by British political singer/songwriter Ewan MacColl for Peggy Seeger. After Flack did it in 1957, the folk song received immense popularity in the ’70s. Throughout the track, Blake delivers soulful vocals accompanied by emotional piano chords that help express a somber soundscape.

Not only that, but Blake also appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and sang the cover in a live performance.
